Advanced Certificate in Licensed Hospitality is designed
to give Managers and Supervisors the skills to effectively
manage their business through a combination of training
and self-study, resulting in a recognised qualification
to Advanced Level.
All units give an industry recognised Advanced Level qualification.
The 3 core units make up the Advanced Level Qualification.
All courses are highly interactive and involve a good

Unit
1 Learning Objectives
The learning objectives for this unit are as follows:
- (1)
Explain the business applications and benefits of
the P&L. Accurately calculate and apply sales
and expenditure figures to a P&L and outline the
main factors influencing machine income performance
- (2)
Calculate and analyse trading accounts quantifying
positive and adverse performance, identify reasons
and recommending appropriate action
- (3)
Categorise, calculate and analyse business costs and
expenses to quantifying positive and adverse performance,
the impact on net profit (cash & percentage),outlining
reasons and recommending appropriate action
- (4)
Calculate and explain the relationship between fixed
costs and depreciation to business profit. Calculate
and apply spend per head, volume and break-even to
determine appropriate business strategies.
- (5)
Outline the budget and forecasting process, explaining
the benefits accrued to business and analyse relevant
business information to construct appropriate P&L
budgets/forecasts

2 Learning Objectives
The learning objectives for this unit are as follows:

Explain marketing and the marketing mix and their
relationship to customer focus and the business vision
- (2)
Apply recognised market analysis models to evaluate
an external business environment and outline the internal
factors to be considered when establishing marketing
objectives
- (3)
Explain the importance of customer focus, apply methods
of identifying and analysing target customer groups
- (4)
Develop marketing objectives and an action plan for
a business, applying appropriate promotional techniques
to a target customer group
- (5)
Design and analyse marketing evaluation tools. Explain
how to monitor and evaluate the success of a marketing
plan against objectives in order to achieve the business
vision

3 Learning Objectives
The learning objectives for this unit are as follows:

Describe the direct link between motivation and business
objectives and outline the impact that motivation
has on a business
- (2)
Explain and apply motivation techniques to identify
what motivates and de-motivates management; teams
and individual staff members
- (3)
Explain the importance of teamwork and leadership
styles in motivating a team. Apply recognised team
development theories to create team motivation strategies
- (4)
Apply the principles of performance monitoring and
feedback to effectively coach good or bad performance
in a given situation
- (5)
Outline and apply the concepts of Reward and Incentive;
including the link between these and business objectives
Is
there an examination?
Each unit has a pre-course test which counts towards
the overall marks.
Each
unit has an end of unit exam lasting 1 hour, containing
10 questions on the application of the subject matter.
Unit 2 also has an open book test.
