Summary
Anyone wishing to be employed as a security guard has to be in possession of a licence issued to them by the Security Industry Authority (SIA).

Details
One of the eligibility criteria for licence applicants is that they must hold a relevant and accredited qualification.  The new BIIAB NCSG meets this criterion. 

The Ofqual accredited qualification comprises of two units:
• Unit 1 Roles and Responsibilities of Security Guards (20 hours)
• Unit 2 Conflict Management for Security Guards (10 hours)

Each unit has a 40 multiple choice question examination, with 80 minutes allowed for each.
